banks<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1713e68 elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget-tablet__width-initial elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1713e68\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>These new specular microscopes increase the ability to visualize and evaluate corneas prior to transplantation, and thus provide more information to eye bank teams. Historically, around 11% of corneas are rejected for transplantation due to the presence of endothelial abnormalities. With the old microscopes, it was impossible to see all areas of the cornea and distinguish a simple hole from a real anomaly. In case of doubt, the corneas were rejected. It is estimated that the new generation of specular microscopes will halve the number of rejections due to endothelial anomalies.    <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-421ef49 elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget-tablet__width-initial elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"421ef49\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tH\u00e9ma-Qu\u00e9bec is already a reference in the field, managing the largest human tissue bank in Canada. It collects human tissue (cornea, heart valve, skin, bones and tendons) for future recipients in hospitals. The organization is already partnering with the eye banks at H\u00f4pital Maisonneuve-Rosemont and CHU de Qu\u00e9bec. In addition to supplying eye tissue, H\u00e9ma-Qu\u00e9bec provides material resources and regulatory oversight. The remaining 20% was financed by the Fondation de l&#8217;H\u00f4pital Maisonneuve-Rosemont, the Fondation du CHU de Qu\u00e9bec and the Fondation H\u00e9ma-Qu\u00e9bec.
